What is the scope of thigh lift?

If the skin of the inner thigh sags or is droopy, a thigh lift is ideal as it will tighten up the skin and smoothen the contour of the inner thigh. Patients who have lost a lot of weight are also ideal candidates for an inner thigh lift, usually done in combination with other cosmetic surgery procedures.

What is the inner thigh lift stand for?

Stand in front of a mirror and pinch the skin of your inner thigh so that you lift the skin towards your groin. This approximates what a thigh lift can do for you.

How is the thigh lift performed?

First, aggressive liposuction is performed to decrease the weight and thickness of the thighs as much as possible. This maximizes the contouring benefit and reduces the weight of the tissue to be lifted thus minimizing complications. The thighs are "undermined" extensively where the skin is lifted from the underlying muscle so that it can be pulled up more effectively. Then, the excess skin and fat is removed at the hip level so as to hide the scars beneath your bikini or underwear. There are two types of body lifts. One entails a lifting of the buttocks and outer thighs tapering off into the inner thigh region. This is best performed on a patient who has minimal laxity of the abdomen or has already had an abdominoplasty. The second type involves combining the buttock and outer thigh lift with a tummy tuck. This is the more common approach since most people with laxity of the thighs and buttocks also have a loose abdomen. Once the redundant skin and fat is removed, the remaining tissues are tightened and sewn together. Several drainage tubes are placed to prevent fluid from collecting under the skin while you healing occurs.
